Across the country, the Trust for Public Lands documented a record-breaking investments in parks and open space with a total of $13 billion in conservation funds approved in 26 land initiatives.
Voters approved two important land measures in Michigan communities on November 4. Acme Township in Grand Traverse County approved a 10-year millage renewal for natural area conservation, open space, and farmland protection with 57% of voter approval. The .73 mill property tax is expected to generate over $2 million in funds. In southern Michigan, Webster Township residents (Washtenaw County), voters also supported a 10-year, millage renewal for land conservation by an overwhelming margin—73% to 27%. That millage will raise nearly $2 million for open space and farmland.
