We are thrilled to announce that All Saints Cemetery in Waterford is now working with Six Rivers Regional Land Conservancy to create the first conservation-based natural burial ground in Michigan. The cemetery is offering a $100 gift card and bragging rights to the person who suggests the best name for the natural burial ground. Please post your suggestions by December 1 at www.mtelliott.com.

The concept of incorporating burial grounds within conservation land has been of interest to Six Rivers for several years. There is a growing market for natural burial areas that are managed without the use of embaming fluid, grave liners and other typical features of traditional burials. People who chose this type of burial are embracing a new ethic in death care and are investing in the long-term conservation of the land and places we love. The creation of conservation burial grounds creates a 'sacred space' within our conserved lands that will serve to remind us that land conservation is not just about the land - it is moreover about our relationship with the land and with each other.

Stayed tuned for more details about the development and future opening of the new burial ground.
