This in-depth training is a 4-week session on Drafting Easements for Perpetuity, and is specially modified for Michigan land conservancies and their land conservancy staff, volunteers and board members. Because it is interactive, it is applicable for all levels of experience and ACE participants are strongly encouraged to attend.

Beginning February 11, Jane Ellen, who wrote the book on drafting easements and is a well-regarded industry expert, will share best practices in drafting easements. Whether you want to learn more or make certain the easements you write will last, this course is for you.

About Jane Ellen Hamilton, Instructor

Jane Ellen is an attorney and consultant for numerous land conservation organizations across the United States, negotiating conservation easements and assisting with the establishment and enhancement of conservation easement and easement stewardship programs.

She is a member of the Alliance’s Conservation Defense Advisory Council and the “Saving Land” Editorial Board, and she is a senior faculty member for the Land Trust Alliance, presenting courses on all aspects of land conservation transactions at Rally and regional conferences. She also presents conservation easement workshops for landowners and continuing education seminars on land conservation for legal, real estate and appraisal professionals around the country.

Jane Ellen authored the Standards and Practices Curriculum courses “Evaluating and Selecting Conservation Projects” and “Conservation Easement Drafting and Documentation” and is a contributor to “Acquiring Land and Conservation Easements.”
