Communications Planning for Conservation Organizations – Full-Day Workshop

A communications plan is a valuable asset for the environmental organization seeking to build awareness of its mission and work. Much as a strategic conservation plan provides a roadmap for land protection, a communications plan guides your communications efforts with donors, constituents, and the community at large.

As media usage shifts with changes in demographics, lifestyles, and media outlets, taking a fresh look at your key messages and how they are communicated can energize your organization’s image and expand its reach.

This workshop is appropriate for all levels of expertise: generalists with other organization responsibilities, communications managers, and volunteer board members. Participants will:

  • Conduct a simple audit of their current communications

  • Discover how people talk about the environment and conservation

  • Explore communication channels and how to use them

  • Create the framework for an annual communications plan

  • Learn how to best identify resources to successfully implement a plan
