The year-end is just around the corner—will your fundraising appeals resonate with donors? Will they stand out in the flood of requests made this time of year? Just in time for the giving season, the ACE program is pleased to host this special call with Judy Anderson, Principal, Community Consultants and an ACE Expert Peer. Judy will share her tips and experience so that you’ll understand the importance of customizing appeals, avoiding “techno-speak”, letting donors know how you’re working for them, and encouraging real dialogue to earn giving loyalty from your supporters.

How to participate: The Ask An Expert conference call is available to representatives of all Michigan land conservancies and their conservation partners. Please register by Wednesday, November 3. Call-in number, pass code, call-in protocol and other instructions will be provided once you’ve signed up. Please note that the call-in number is NOT toll-free. For the reasonable cost of a long distance call or 60 cell phone minutes, you’ll have access to some of best conservation legal expertise in Michigan.

More about Judy Anderson: Judy has worked in the land trust sector for 20 years, including thirteen years at the Columbia Land Conservancy, ten of which were as Executive Director. During that time she grew the organization from a staff of three to 18, with an operating budget of over $1.8 million. Due to a change towards inclusive conservation, membership increased from 400 to over 1,700 people in five years. She currently assists nonprofit organizations on strategic conservation initiatives incorporating local communities, climate change, governance, communications and fundraising strategies. She also coaches land trusts in systems development, easement drafting and stewardship, inclusive conservation, and building greater community relevance to ensure their work withstands the test of time.
