It’s a new year and it’s time for the Round Up of your land protection stories and news from 2010! Join Ellen Fred and your conservancy colleagues to share 2010 anecdotes, lessons learned, and any great year-end stories. Ellen will share some of her own (e.g. what do you do when your landowner is out of the country and you need a signature before December 31?) as well as review the year-end in Congress—what did and did not happen for easement incentives and estate taxes.

The question you had to answer last year may help someone else out this year—so please join us on the call and share what you learned!

Submit Questions: If you have legal questions for Ellen, please send them to julie@heartofthelakes.org by Tuesday, February 8.

How to participate: The Ask An Attorney/Expert conference call is available to representatives of all Michigan land conservancies and their conservation partners. Please register by February 9, 2011. Call-in number, pass code, call-in protocol and other instructions will be provided once you’ve signed up. Please note that the call-in number is NOT toll-free. For the reasonable cost of a long distance call or 60 cell phone minutes, you’ll have access to some of best conservation legal expertise in Michigan.

Remember: The Ask An Attorney program is intended to provide general guidance only and is not a substitute for seeking needed legal review by a qualified attorney for conservation easements or other land transactions.

Questions? Julie or Meredith at 517-925-8649, julie@heartofthelakes.org or meredith@heartofthelakes.org
